  1. Dance to Your Daddy

    Dance to Your Daddy

Dance to your daddy, my little laddie
Dance to your daddy, my little lamb
You shall have a fish and you shall have a fin
You shall have a heron when the boat comes in
You shall have a lobster boiled in a pan
Dance to your daddy my little lamb

Dance to your daddy my little laddie
Dance to your daddy my little lamb
When thou arts a man and come to take a wife
You shall have a girl and love her all your life
She shall be your girl, you shall be her man
Dance to your daddy my little lamb

Dance to your daddy my little laddie
Dance to your daddy my little lamb
You shall have a fish and you shall have a fin
You shall have a heron when the boat comes in
You shall have a lobster boiled in a pan
Dance to your daddy my little lamb

  2. Charlie

    Charlie

    O Charlie’s neat and Charlie’s sweet and Charlie he’s a dandy
And every time he goes to town he brings me sugar candy
I don’t want none of your wheavily wheat, I don’t want none of your barley
Just take some flour in half an hour and bake a cake for Charlie

It’s Charlie here, it’s Charlie there, it’s Charlie over the ocean
And Charlie he’ll come back again if he don’t change his notion
My pretty little phink I once did think I’d never do without you
But since I lost all hope of you I care very little about you

How old are you, my pretty little miss
How old are you, my honey
If I don’t die of a broken heart, I’ll be sixteen on Sunday

Ah rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle
Rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle

Now can you pour, my pretty little miss, now can you pour my flour
I’ll pour more in a minute and a half than you can in an hour

Ah rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle
Rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle

Oh marry me, my pretty little miss
    Oh marry me, good lookin’
I’ll marry you but I won’t do your washin’ or your cookin’

Ah rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle
Rink toomah dink toomah diddle eye do
    Rink toomah dink toomah doodle

Oh Charlie he’s a nice young man and Charlie he’s a dandy
And every time he goes to town he brings me sugar candy
I don’t want none of your wheavily wheat, I don’t want none of your barley
Just take some flour in half an hour and bake a cake for Charlie

It’s Charlie here, it’s Charlie there, it’s Charlie over the ocean
And Charlie he’ll come back again if he don’t change his notion

  3. Barbara Allen

    Barbara Allen

It was round and about last Martinmas tide
When the green leaves were swellin’
That young Jimmy Grove of the West Country
Fell in love with Barb’ry Allen

He sent his men into the town
To the place where she was dwellin’
“Oh will you come to my master, dear,
If your name be Barb’ry Allen?”

And slowly, slowly got she up
And slowly came she nigh him
And all she said when there she came
“Young man, I think you’re dyin'”

“Oh, yes, I’m sick, I’m very sick
    Indeed I think I’m dyin’
But a word from you would revive me again
    Oh lovely Barb’ry Allen”

“Do you recall, young man,” she said,
“When the red wine you were spillin’,
How you made the ladies’ health go round
    And you slighted Barb’ry Allen?”

And death is printed on his face
And all his heart is stealin’
And again he cried as she left his side
    “Hard-hearted Barb’ry Allen!”

As she was goin’ over the field
She heard the death bells tollin’
And every sound that death bell gave:
    “Hard-hearted Barb’ry Allen!”

“Oh mother, mother make me a bed
Oh make it soft and narrow
Since Jimmy died for me today
    I’ll die for him tomorrow”

  4. Cherry Tree Carol

    Cherry Tree Carol

    Joseph was an old man
    An old man was he
    When he married Virgin Mary
    The queen of Galilee

    As Mary and Joseph
    Were walking one day
To an orchard of cherry trees
    They chanced for to stray

    Then Mary said to Joseph
    So meek and so mild
    “Pick me some cherries Joseph
    For I am with child”

    Then Joseph flew angry
    So angry flew he
“Let the father of your baby
    Gather cherries for thee”

    Then up spoke Lord Jesus
    From in his mother’s womb
    “Bow low down cherry trees
    Bow down to the ground”

And the cherry trees bowed down
    Bowed low to the ground
    And Mary gathered cherries
    While Joesph stood round

    Then Joseph he kneeled down
    A question gave he
    “Come tell me pretty baby
    When your birthday shall be”

    “On fifth day of January
    My birthday shall be
And the stars in the heavens
Shall all bow down to me”

  5. Turpin Hero

    Turpin Hero

On Hounslow Heath as I rode o’er
I spied a lawyer riding before.
“Kind sir,” said I, “are you afraid,
    Of Turpin, that mischievous blade?”

    O rare Turpin hero,
    O rare Turpin O

    Said Turpin, “He’d ne’er find me o’er
I hid my money in my boot”
The lawyer says, “There’s none can find,
I hid my gold in my cape behind.”

    O rare Turpin hero,
    O rare Turpin O

As they were riding past the mill
    Turpin commands him to stand still;
Says he, “Your cloak I must cut off,
My mare she needs a saddle cloth.”

    O rare Turpin hero,
    O rare Turpin O

This caused the lawyer much to fret
To see how simply he’d been took,
But Turpin robbed him of his store
Because he knew he’d lie for more.

    O rare Turpin hero,
    O rare Turpin O

  6. I Drew My Ship

    I Drew My Ship

    I drew my ship
    Into the harbor
I drew it up where my true love lay
I drew it close by to her window
To listen to what my love did say

“Who’s there that knocks there loud at my window?
Who knocks so loud and would come in?”
“It is your true love, who loves you dearly
Arise dear love and let him in”

Then slowly slowly got she up
And slowly slowly came she down
But before she got her door unlocked
Her true love had both come and gone

He’s brisk and bold, he’s far away
He’s far beyond yon raging main
Where fishes dancing and bright eyes glancing
Have made him quite forget his aim
